Monitoring air quality from the crowd to the cloud

HOW IT WORKS

Smile is a participatory science project which relies on the collection of pollution data in urban areas.

Pollution readings are carried out by low-cost self-calibrating sensors which will be distributed to volunteer users spread over a given area. All the results obtained from the movement of users will be used to develop pollution maps at street-scale which will reflect the types and concentrations of pollutants present.
